Here’s something we all know but don’t fully understand: Words are powerful. Words combined with symbols enter our subconscious and help us make changes. Carl Jung used feelings, emotions, and words to help patients identify their individual challenges and heal.

One integral aspect of the Four Rooms of Change is connecting our intellectual and emotional selves through words. This work is like turning on a navigator in your mind.

Here is an activity that we use effectively when working with the PS-Matrix.

  • Sit alone in silence and think about a problem or situation for which you can’t seem to find the answer. Then, list the cues or clues coming from your unconscious.
  • Be open to the answer, even if it doesn’t make sense. Leave a comment telling me the message you received from your unconscious.
  • Words are the portal to change, healing, and growth. At the same time, they are the key to stagnation and reliving the same experiences over and over.

Tell me what you want, what you really, really want.
