If you are interested in using “The Four Rooms” — or The Four Rooms of Change, as the concept is actually called — professionally, certification is required. A&L Partners AB hold the copyright and exclusive rights to conduct The Four Rooms certification programs. Since their inception in 1996, we have developed these programs from concept to quality-assured programs. This was achieved with feedback from nearly 2,000 participants, as well as their customers and clients.
This page contains all the information you need to become a certified Four Rooms of Change user.
Dates for program starts can be found in the events page, along with practical information, prices, contact details, and registration forms. If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to contact us.
What does the certification entail?
The concepts Four Rooms of Change, The Four Rooms and Organizational Barometer together with the color illustration (the “color ball”), that is the Four Rooms of Change logo, are registered trademarks in Sweden, all EU countries, and large parts of the world, including North America, China, Australia, and New Zealand.
This means that only certified users may commercially use the various trademarks together with the texts, concepts, analytical instruments, models, and tools developed by us within the framework of the theory and concept. Upon completion of their certification, this right is delegated to each individual and renewed yearly as long as they maintain their active certification.
Certification offers many advantages:
- One advantage is the right to use the models, analysis tools, and instruments associated with The Four Rooms of Change for commercial and professional purposes.
- Access to manuals, step-by-step guides, video illustrations, and more.
- Users have the right to use and communicate the concept to customers, employees, and other stakeholders.
- Certification also provides the opportunity to participate in annual conferences and workshops for updates, mutual learning, and the exchange of experiences.
- You will also have access to an exciting national and international network of professional users and organizations with many years of practical experience.
- You have the right to use the Four Rooms trademarks for internal and external marketing, training, consulting, coaching, change work, and more.
- You will have access to “the source,” i.e., the people who have researched, developed, commercialized, and quality-assured the use of the Four Rooms for more than 30 years in direct collaboration with the creator. This has allowed the Four Rooms to gain a foothold on all continents.
You can start using the Four Rooms with individuals and groups after Stage I of the certification program.
How can you make use of your certification?
The basis for the Four Rooms of Change is Claes Janssen’s groundbreaking discoveries. These are complex yet communicable, understandable, and usable by everyone, regardless of culture, continent, social system, age, or level of education or prior knowledge. In four hours, you can teach any group to use The Four Rooms based on their own situation in a way that was previously thought impossible. “It just works!”

About the certification program
The program consists of three stages, each lasting two days, over the course of eight to ten months. Before the program begins, there is always an introductory meeting with someone from the program management. Participants must apply what they learn between stages to earn certification, as well as demonstrate the necessary theoretical understanding. Immediately after Stage I, participants begin using two basic tools.
Stage I
During the first stage, we introduce and work with two of the three basic tools in a concrete way. We review the theory and discuss how it can be used diagnostically, consultatively, and professionally. We also use a work session to link the use of tools to “value-based consultation,” addressing areas such as defense mechanisms, values, human needs, and various beliefs related to change work in addition to consultation. We also review policies for brand protection and intellectual property rights. Time is set aside for participants to plan how they will use the tools in their work.
During the first stage, we schedule the dates for the next two stages.
Stage II
During this stage, we delve deeper into the other analysis tools and instruments included in the basic certification. This stage includes sharing experiences from the interim period, training participants, delving deeper into the theory, and discussing the pedagogical and consultative aspects of use. Participants will also plan for the upcoming interim period with practical applications.
Stage III
During the third stage, we share our experiences applying theory, analysis instruments, and tools professionally. There is an in-depth study of the theory, tools, and our own integration of the Four Rooms. Certification considerations also take place here. Other tools and applications are introduced. Information is provided on how to use membership in the User Forum for professional development and to ensure quality for the end user.
The program’s pedagogy has a clear action-learning orientation. It has a clear structure within which exploration and learning are initiated and encouraged — with the intention of facilitating certification.
Price
The price for programs starting in 2026 is SEK 54,000. This price includes course materials, documentation, lunches, snacks, and a service fee for the Four Rooms User Forum during the program period. Additionally, the price includes guidance and advice from some of the world’s most experienced Four Rooms users — individuals who have worked directly with the creator for over 25 years. Guidance is also included during the interim periods.
The only additional cost is a small per-person fee for the materials, i.e., the analysis tools and other aids that program participants will use with their customers, clients, employees, or equivalents during the interim periods. This cost is usually paid by the end customer.
